Instructions
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi and cook according to package instructions, usually about 2-3 minutes or until they float to the surface. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, until fragrant but not browned.
Stir in the fresh spinach and cook until wilted, about 2-3 minutes. If using, add the red pepper flakes here.
Add the cooked gnocchi to the skillet, tossing gently to coat in the garlic butter and spinach mixture. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Remove from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and lemon zest until well combined.
Serve immediately, garnished with fresh basil leaves and an extra sprinkle of Parmesan if desired.
